Expressify
~ Object: To enjoy art and have the most cards at the end of the game. The goal of each round is to take as many of your opponent’s cards as possible. The game is over when one player has no more cards to play. The player who has the most cards in their possession is the winner.
~Expressify is a 2-player game.
~ Deal ½ the deck to each player.
~ Each player lays down 4 cards face up.
~ Decide who goes first.
~ Each card has a number. When taking a turn, examine the numbers on the opponent’s cards.
~ Add up the numbers on combinations of your opponent’s cards and reduce them down to a single digit. For example, if your spread shows 6, 3, 1, 7, these numbers add up to 17. Adding the 1 and the 7 of 17 together reduces the 2 digits of the number 17 to 1 digit, giving you a value of 8. If one of the cards in your spread is an 8, take your 8 out of play with all four of your opponent’s cards and put them aside.
~ If you do not have an 8, but instead have a 7, you could take your opponent’s 1 and 6, or you can take their 7. Again, take those cards with your 7 out of play. Or add any combination of your opponent’s cards and reduce them down to one digit until you find a number that matches one of your cards. Take those cards with the one they match to on your side and put them aside.
~If no combination of your opponent’s cards reduces to a number on your spread, lay an additional 4 cards on top of your spread and try again.
~ After the turn is over, both players replace the cards taken out of play and the game continues.
~ Feel free to use the cards without a number as wild cards, or create some other rule to add something unique that you create to the game.
